The piston ring is usually composed of three parts: the gas ring, the sealing ring and the oil ring. They are installed at different positions of the piston and have different functions.
Compression Ring: The gas ring is also called the compression ring, which is the upper ring in the piston ring. The gas ring is located closest to the top of the piston. Its main function is to seal the gap between the piston and the top of the cylinder to prevent high-pressure gas from leaking from the piston to the outside of the cylinder, and it can also reduce friction and wear.
Scraper Ring: The sealing ring generally refers to the middle ring, which is located between the gas ring and the oil ring. The main function of the sealing ring is to seal the gas and lubricating oil in the cylinder to prevent them from leaking out of the cylinder, and it also has the function of sweeping the lubricating oil.
Oil Ring: The oil ring refers to the lower ring in the piston ring, also called the third ring. The oil ring is located closest to the bottom of the piston. Its main function is to seal the gap between the piston and the cylinder wall to prevent the lubricating oil from entering the combustion chamber. At the same time, it can also help the lubricating oil flow back to the oil pan again to keep the piston parts lubricated.
